Dear Parents and Students of LCCHS,
My name is Carrie Carson and I am the Guidance Counsellor at Lasalle Community Comprehensive High School. As the School Counsellor, my role is to work in collaboration with you, your children, and other school professionals to ensure personal growth and academic success.
Personal Growth
As the Guidance Counsellor working with students between the ages of 12 and 17, I provide both short and long-term counselling support. The issues that I work with include, but are not limited to, self-harm, addiction, personality disorder tendencies, abuse, social skills, interpersonal concerns, self-image, transition, bullying, grief, separation and divorce, anger and depression, as well as career counselling. In addition to individual support, I am also available to do group work with students who may be dealing with similar issues. My goal as a Guidance Counsellor is to help students learn to communicate appropriately, problem-solve effectively, and encourage the developement of teamwork skills.
Academic Success
Career planning and exploration is an integral part of one's final years in high school. As the Guidance Counsellor, my role is to introduce students to tools that will help them define their personal interests and abilities, provide information on post-secondary education and training, as well as organize and run career planning workshops. Furthermore, I work closely with the students, parents, and school professionals to ensure that students are on the right path and are accumulating the necessary high school requirements to graduate with their peers.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me via phone, email and/or schedule an appointment.
Wishing the students a successful year!!
Carrie Carson, MA, c.o.
